No Make Up, Make Up - The Minimalist Face Care Routine For Summers

As the scorching sunny days are here, it’s time to surface out the less is more approach for our skin care regime. I like the no makeup, makeup look for summers. As the weather gets warmer, our skin glands produce a lot of oil leading to stickiness and clogged pores. This further leads to conditions such as skin rashes and acne. To resolve this, I follow a minimalist routine that nourishes the skin, makes it look plump like a peach ;) and severely hydrated.

My approach to beauty is a beautiful marriage between skincare and makeup. It includes the following steps -

Cleanse and Hydrate

This is the foundation of every routine. I like to start by giving my face a good cleanse using the ‘No Fuss’ face wash. Enriched with carrot root, hibiscus and turmeric, it really helps refine my skin texture and gives an instant glow. After this, I splash my face with a boost of hydration using the ‘Aloe Vera Hydrosol’ face mist. I never understood the significance of tonics and mists till I started using one myself. They not only hydrate the skin but also facilitate better absorption of other products.

Moisturise and address skin concerns

After a squeaky clean skin, it’s time to give attention to the discolouration, pigmentation, puffiness or dark circles if any. I normally like to go ahead with the ‘Margarita’ face and under eye gel as it is the perfect summer drink my skin needs. After massaging a pump of it on my face and eyes, I further layer it with the ‘Quench’ gel moisturiser. The bamboo water in it leaves my skin supple and nourished. A small tip here: instead of rubbing, pat the products into the skin. This will aid absorption and blood flow. If I am going out of the house then I like to top it up with some sunscreen.

Elements of glow

After I’m done with my CHM (Cleanse, Hydrate, Moisturise) routine, I like to slow down a bit. I sit peacefully for 2-3 mins, sip on some water, breathe consciously, look into the mirror and smile and attend to my hair. All these are the elements of glow. It is a small but fulfilling action. Now, to add a natural sheen to the high points of my face I go ahead with applying some ‘Crème Highlighter’ in the shade Rose blush. It blends beautifully in my prepped skin and gives a glow from within.

Let the lips beam

The perfect way to lock the no makeup, makeup look is by smearing some tinted organic lip balm on your lips and cheeks. I always seal my lips in nourishment and colour with the ‘Lip Lock’ terracotta lip balm. The beetroot powder and the kokum seed butter, lightly pigments my lips and cheeks in a very earthy tone. I totally love the slight hue!

Let the real you shine through the less is more approach. A humble cleanser, a hydrater that preps your skin right, a moisturiser and a sunscreen is all you need, with buckets of self love of course!

Love,
Sunayana
